Aberfeldy Sings at Lightnight

Members of Aberfeldy & District Gaelic Choir were delighted to take part in the Lightnight Big Sing on Saturday 27 November 2010, part of Perth’s 800th Anniversary celebrations, in Perth Concert Hall.

The choir was one of several taking part, each singing three songs with an international/home-based artist with whom they have been working on material for this big event.

It was our privilege to sing with Na Seòid, a group of Gaeldom’s finest young male singers, under the leadership of singer and broadcaster Mary Ann Kennedy.

We were also honoured to give the first performance of a new adaptation of the Glen Lyon Lament, “Griogal Chridhe”, directed by May Brown and arranged especially for the Choir by Aberfeldy musician Norman Beedie.

The concert was a great success, and culminated with all the performers singing together on stage with the popular Scots harpist and singer Corinna Hewitt – her own arrangements of “Auld Lang Syne” and the Lennon/McCartney classic “All You Need Is Love”.
